With just two NFL games on the board this weekend, it didn’t take long for us to narrow things down. When it came time to lock in our Hard Rock Best Bets, both of us landed on Sunday’s Patriots vs. Broncos matchup.

Andrew Erickson’s Hard Rock Best Bet

I’m betting against my own team here and taking the Denver Broncos +4.5 at home. This does not mean I think Denver wins the game outright. I still expect the Patriots to win, but I think it’s more likely they win by a field goal than by 5+ points.

This number moved too far following the Bo Nix injury, and I don’t think the updated spread properly reflects how this game is likely to play out. Denver’s defense is good enough to keep this close, especially at home, and I don’t think New England separates the way the line suggests.

If this is a one-score game late, which I think it will be, Denver covers the 4.5.

Ryan Wormeli’s Hard Rock Best Bet

My Hard Rock Best Bet is on the total in Patriots vs. Broncos. Under 42.5.

This was one of my two favorite bets of the entire show, and I had it written down before hearing Andrew’s pick. I like this number better than the spread, and it ties directly into everything we discussed earlier.

Even if Bo Nix were playing, I would still lean under. With a backup quarterback on one side, strong defenses on both sides, and both teams built to slow games down, I think this total is simply too high. I don’t expect offensive efficiency, and I think field goals will matter more than touchdowns in this matchup.

Lane Johnson is expected to return, a massive upgrade for an offensive line that looks dramatically different when he is in the lineup. The Eagles’ offense has historically been more efficient with Johnson on the field, requiring fewer dropbacks and sustaining drives more consistently.

On the other side, the 49ers are dealing with significant injury concerns. Trent Williams’ status is far less certain, and even if he plays, he is unlikely to be close to full strength while dealing with a hamstring injury. San Francisco’s offense has shown clear regression when Williams is absent or limited, scoring nearly six fewer points per game without him. That drop-off was evident late in the season and is difficult to ignore heading into a road playoff game.

The defensive matchup also tilts toward Philadelphia. The Eagles are getting key contributors back on defense, including reinforcements along the defensive line and at linebacker. Meanwhile, the 49ers are thin at linebacker, recently signing additional depth simply to field enough bodies.

There is also a situational element working against San Francisco. The 49ers failed to secure a bye week and now have to travel to Philadelphia, play outdoors, and face a rested and healthier team. Their ideal postseason path required staying home and regaining health. Instead, they are walking into one of the toughest environments in the league.

Experience further separates these teams. Philadelphia is the defending Super Bowl champion, led by a quarterback and coaching staff that have navigated multiple deep playoff runs. The Eagles know how to manage playoff intensity, adversity, and expectations. San Francisco, under Kyle Shanahan, has consistently struggled in high-leverage road playoff situations, often leaving points on the field.

All of this points toward Philadelphia being in position to not only win, but win decisively. Laying 4.5 points does not reflect the health gap, the defensive matchup, or the experience edge. This game profiles as one where the Eagles take control and put the 49ers’ injury-depleted roster under constant pressure.

Ryan Wormeli’s Hard Rock Best Bet: Texans -3 at Steelers

The Texans -3 on the road against the Steelers is another spot where matchup clarity outweighs surface-level trends. While Pittsburgh’s home record on Monday Night Football and Mike Tomlin’s reputation loom large, the underlying football points strongly toward Houston.

The Texans defense is the best unit on the field in this game. It is elite across the board and particularly dangerous against an aging Steelers offense that has struggled to move the ball against strong defenses all season. Pittsburgh’s offensive production has repeatedly stalled when facing pressure, athleticism, and disciplined coverage, all strengths of the Texans defense.

Houston’s pass rush creates consistent disruption, and that is a major issue for a Steelers offense led by an older quarterback coming off a long, physically taxing season. Against comparable defensive units, Pittsburgh has failed to sustain drives or generate explosive plays. Even with DK Metcalf back in the lineup, the offense still faces structural issues that one receiver cannot fix.

Houston’s offense also deserves more credit than it is receiving. C.J. Stroud has already shown he can perform in the postseason. The Texans offense is capable of scoring efficiently, especially against a Steelers defense that has been inconsistent and vulnerable at times.

The market price reflects historical trends more than present reality. Pittsburgh’s undefeated record at home on Monday Night Football and Tomlin’s long-standing success in underdog roles are baked into the number. However, trends do not block pass rushers or cover receivers. Houston’s roster, particularly on defense, is simply superior.

Another key factor is momentum. The Texans enter the playoffs playing their best football, while Pittsburgh backed into the postseason after benefiting from a weak division. Against top-tier competition, the Steelers have consistently come up short.

Laying only 3 points with the Texans creates an opportunity to back the better team without paying a premium. Even on the road, Houston’s defensive dominance gives them a high floor and a clear path to covering the spread.

The Saints’ backfield has become a revolving door. Alvin Kamara continues to deal with an MCL issue, and based on where New Orleans sits competitively, there’s little incentive to rush him back. Devin Neal re-aggravated a hamstring injury last week and never returned to the field. That leaves two backs standing: Audric Estime and Evan Hull.

Once Neal exited, the workload split was essentially 50/50 – but Estime held the edge in touches and snap rate. More importantly, when the Saints needed reliable plays during the final drive, Estime was the one getting the passing-game work. That kind of trust goes a long way.

A Matchup Too Good to Ignore

Let’s not overthink this: the Jets have become a funnel matchup for running backs. Their last five outings have turned opposing RBs into league winners.

The pattern is loud, consistent, and profitable – start the RB against the Jets. Even a defensive coordinator change isn’t likely to reverse that trajectory.

With the Saints entering as home favorites and likely leaning on the ground game, the volume could easily stretch into the 20+ carry range if Estime gets rolling.

Talent + Opportunity = Flex Appeal

Estime’s profile remains intriguing: 5’11”, 227 pounds, a physical runner with underrated space skills. His 40 time tanked his draft stock, but the tape out of Notre Dame told a different story. He’s bounced around the league – Denver, Philly’s practice squad – but now finds himself in a backfield where opportunity is finally meeting ability.

If you’re in the semifinals and need upside, Estime is firmly in the flex conversation.

Worm’s Hard Rock Best Bet: Fade the Raiders

If optimism defines Erickson’s pick, mine is the opposite.

The Raiders will improve from their historically awful offensive performance last week – but still produce zero legitimate fantasy starters against Houston.

Why the Raiders Remain a Pass

Houston’s defense has tightened significantly, and Las Vegas’ implied team total is one of the lowest of the week. Even with some positive regression expected after their 31-0 disaster, the offensive ecosystem remains broken.

My angle: take the under on any Brock Bowers prop. Any line, any category.

It’s not just Bowers. The Raiders simply don’t have many fantasy-relevant options right now beyond Bowers and Ashton Jeanty – and both face a brutally difficult matchup.

Context Only Makes It Worse

The Raiders are on the road. Pete Carroll is reportedly coaching without job concerns. All signs point toward the Raiders playing from behind against a defense that has consistently shut down middle-of-the-pack offenses.

Even if Las Vegas moves the ball better than last week (they practically have to), the fantasy ceiling is still scraping the floor.

Final Thoughts

Week 16 offers two very different fantasy/betting opportunities:

• Audric Estime represents everything we chase in the fantasy playoffs: talent, volume and matchup. If Neal and Kamara remain out, he’s a flex play with real RB1 upside.

And while the Jaguars teased using Tank Bigsby at the goal line, two costly fumbles last week make it unlikely they go away from the red-hot Etienne — especially after he handled 20 carries, scored twice, and played nearly 72% of the snaps. It’s wheels-up for Etienne against the Jets.

TreVeyon Henderson: The “Prince Who Was Promised” Week

Our next Hard Rock Best Bet focuses on TreVeyon Henderson, who finally gets a matchup where everything lines up for a true RB1 performance. Despite the perception that Henderson has recently “broken out,” he has only finished inside the top 12 running backs twice this season — RB4 in Week 10 and RB3 in Week 11. Even in this encouraging recent stretch, he has not otherwise finished higher than RB20.

Still, with the Patriots coming off a bye and entering what is essentially the biggest game left on their schedule, Henderson is set up to be featured. The Bills’ run defense has struggled, and New England will need its best playmakers on the field. This feels like a spot where the Patriots lean on him heavily.

I’m predicting 100+ scrimmage yards and a touchdown, with an explosive play mixed in. In our rankings, Henderson sits at RB13, but we both believe he performs more like a top-12 back this week — right in the same tier of excitement as Etienne.
