Thursday’s MLB nightcap features a West Coast showdown between the Seattle Mariners (53-56) and Los Angeles Dodgers (68-40) in the finale of this interleague series. The Mariners won the opener, while the Dodgers responded with a victory on Wednesday to set up Thursday night’s rubber match at Dodger Stadium.

It was a back-and-forth contest in Tuesday’s series opener, but the Mariners pulled in front in the eighth inning behind Dominic Canzone’s go-ahead two-run home run to take a 7-5 lead. Despite the Dodgers scoring once in the ninth inning, Andrés Muñoz was able to complete the save. The Dodgers took a 4-0 lead into the eighth inning of Wednesday’s game, and while the Mariners scored one run in each of the final two innings, it wasn’t enough to beat Los Angeles.

The Mariners will turn to right-hander Bryan Woo, who hasn’t had much success on the mound over the last two months, while 24-year-old Japanese right-hander Roki Sasaki is set to make his 19th start of the season. Sasaki is coming off one of his best outings of the year, tossing seven innings of three-hit, one-run baseball with nine strikeouts in a win over the New York Mets.

Dodgers vs. Mariners Best Bet: Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (-130)

Freddie Freeman continues to defy age as the soon-to-be 37-year-old is enjoying another terrific season, earning the 10th All-Star selection of his legendary career. Freeman is batting .302 with 15 home runs, 53 RBIs, and an .867 OPS in his fifth season with the Dodgers.

As if those numbers aren’t already impressive, Freeman is batting .333 in July and an even better .395 with a .914 OPS since the All-Star break. The former MVP has been especially effective against right-handed pitching this season, batting .328 with a .937 OPS, making Thursday night’s matchup against Bryan Woo even more favorable.

Speaking of Woo, he allowed nine hits and five earned runs in his most recent start against Texas and has posted an ERA near 6.00 in both June and July. That doesn’t bode well for Woo having to face a hitter like Freeman in the heart of a loaded Dodgers lineup, especially with the veteran first baseman riding an eight-game hitting streak.
